Administration of your Content Management System (CMS)

First - It’s best to plan your site, wether it’s just being converted into drupal or started from scratch. I can help you to build an html website, however for the amount of work involved, I highly recommend going with a CMS website using software such as drupal. It allows you to have control over your content without messing with design and layout, provides functionality which is otherwise difficult or not available, and give's you room to grow.

Register and Hosting

$150/year/domain

To Setup a website you first need to register the domain that you wish to have. I usually use gandi.net for registration. Their license is friendly. Sometimes your host will register your domain for you. Before you sign up with anyone, be sure to read their terms and search for what others have to say about them.

Next you need a host which will serve your pages to the public and provide email accounts, etc for your domain. There are many hosts out there. They are all different and all seem to have different rates and services. I use hostpapa.com or inlex.net depending on the requirements and structure of the organization being hosted. hostpapa uses green energy and has decent prices and bandwidth.

I will do this for you for a yearly fee of $150.

Installation and Setup

$60/hr - a typical site will cost between $1000 - $3000 for setup. however it can be as low as $500 for a bare bones site with a basic drupal install and the modules you’ll need.

CMS Installation - I primarily use Drupal it is free, open, and extensible. It will do just about anything you want. It’s best to have a plan worked out for what you do want before we being building the site.
I’m also familiar with gallery, wordpress, and a few others. If you have another preference, we can talk about it, most likely I can figure it out.

Module Installation and Configuration - Drupal has many modules to expand it's functionality, such as: event calendars, forums, image handling, etc. I’m familiar with many of them and can help in planning what you need, and in some cases what you might want in the future.

Theme Building and Site Design - I can take your current site design or build a new one. What is typically involved is building the css files and modifying a theme to flow the way you want it too, and moving content. I will move the content from regular html, documents you give me or a current site to the new one.

Maintenance

10hrs/month, $200/month
5 hrs/month, $100/month
discounted rates available for non profits and individuals.
hourly rates also available at $60/hr billed monthly.

This includes:

  • administration - settings, configuration, emails, accounts, etc
  • backups (I can handle backups or help you to do them yourself)
  • security and module updates
  • troubleshooting of your site when problems arise, phone support
